Matt Kelly Races for a Cause
On April 7th, 2013, a follower of The Covering House, Matt Kelly will be running at the GO! St. Louis Half Marathon in hopes of raising funds to help The Covering House build a shelter for the survivors of sex-trafficking in St. Louis, MO.

Here is a little information about why Matt is supporting The Covering House:

“I am a husband and dad of 3 who started running last year to stay in shape and quickly got hooked. This will be my second half marathon. My eyes were initially opened to the ugly world of sex trafficking and slavery by the movie “Taken”. Shortly after, I was introduced to the Covering House by my church, Elevation Church, and learned that Sex Trafficking is not just something that’s happening in another country or state, but is happening right here in St. Louis. As a father of 2 daughters, this absolutely breaks my heart. I’m proud to be supporting and raising money for the Covering House to further their efforts to be a refuge and source of healing and restoration for girls who have been rescued from this disgusting industry.”

]]> http://thecoveringhouse.org/amazon/feed/ 0 Happy Ending. http://thecoveringhouse.org/happy-ending/ http://thecoveringhouse.org/happy-ending/#comments Thu, 01 Nov 2012 22:21:32 +0000 lgardner http://thecoveringhouse.org/?p=2086 This week, we were deeply touched by a young woman’s story and warm heart.  She contacted TCH explaining that she wanted to drop off some donations, but the gift with which she left us was much more than the items themselves.  Among the other articles she contributed, this young woman wanted to give us a beautiful diamond ring.  She had been previously engaged and after it ended, she promised that she would not sell the ring, but be sure it was used for a good cause.  Upon learning of The Covering House, she decided to give us the ring to do with what we wish.  After the unthinkable horrors these young girls have endured, she explained, “Everyone deserves to have a happy ending, and I hope that in some way this can help to achieve that.” We were deeply moved by this young woman’s compassion and again reminded of the potential for beauty in an oftentimes dark world.

Progress Update:

We have exciting news to share with you, friends!We are happy to announce that The Covering House will be moving into TWO new office spaces! For the past few months, the Sisters of St. Joseph have provided The Covering House with free office space, and we are now ready to move on to something bigger.  Beginning this week, The Covering House will move into one office space donated by C. Rallo Contracting that will be used for administrative purposes and another office space on Grand through which we will provide services. We are seeking to begin providing services this fall. Be on the lookout for further information and updates as they become publicly available!

Well, Covering Campaign 2012 has finally come to a close! Thank you all for the extra support and encouragement you have given to us over the past few months. It has been wonderful to see how our community is growing and tackling human sex trafficking in their every day lives.  We are so grateful to each of you.

You made Covering Campaign 2012 a great success; this was our biggest fundraiser so far, and we couldn’t have done it without you.
