As the holiday season begins, we at The Covering House turn our thoughts towards 2019. Many children are anticipating opening presents from under the tree, baking cookies with mom, and gathering with family in their warm beautifully decorated homes. Other children are not as fortunate. The stark truth is that we come in contact with girls every single day who have never felt the warmth of a loving family nor have the opportunity to experience the simple joys of the holidays.
Our motto at The Covering House with the girls is that “we are a chosen family.”
Your generosity allows us to change the lives of girls who come to us looking for a chance: a chance at life, a chance at a future, and a chance to feel what it means to be loved unconditionally.
2018 has been a year of great progress, but 2019 will present itself as the year we take the next step with you by our side. Our goal is to open the doors to our new campus in September of 2019. This new campus will allow us to help even more children on their road to recovery.
We can’t reach this goal without your help. Before we can open our doors, we need to raise 3 million dollars. This money will allow us to renovate the existing facility and add the necessary staff to care for more girls.
I know renovations such as a septic system, sprinkler system, and security system may not seem exciting, but the healing that will take place within our new home is very exciting.
• Helping us with an Immediate Impact Gift of $5,000, $10,000, $15,000, $25,000, $50,000, $100,000 or more to open our new campus which will immediately allow us to triple the number of girls we help.
• Joining the Quilt Square Society by making a monthly gift to The Covering House to help us with ongoing care of our girls. You can make a difference for as little as $5 a month.
I recently spent a day with one of our Covering House graduates. We talked about The Covering House’s future and the girls who come to us seeking a place of safety. A few days later she sent me a poem she had written. All she said was “this is what you did for me, go do the same for others.”
Have a blessed holiday season, and thank you for your support.
