FAQs
What is sex trafficking?
The recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, obtaining, patronizing, or soliciting of a person for the purposes of a commercial sex act, in which the commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such an act has not attained 18 years of age (22 USC § 7102)
Where is the residential home located?
The location of our home will remain confidential due to the safety of our staff and clients.
Can I visit or volunteer at the residential home?
We do not accommodate visits to our residential home in order to maintain the privacy and dignity of the minors that are living there, and to avoid short-term attachments. Our highly trained staff commit to working closely with the youth over a long period which is most effective in restoration. Please visit our Volunteer Page for other ways to get involved.
Where do the youth come from who enter the residential home?
The Covering House has built relationships with organizations that rescue and/or receive sexually exploited youth into their immediate care. These organizations then place those youth in our out-client services or youth residential home.
What is your administrative/ programmatic cost ratio?
This information can be found on the financial breakdown page.
Can I volunteer with The Covering House?
Please see our volunteer page for current opportunities.
What’s your “success rate” of restoring clients’ lives?
The Covering House has developed benchmarks we look to in considering our progress. A couple of these factors include the number of youth in our care and the number of youth who do not return to exploitative situations. More importantly, we aim to provide comprehensive restoration which is sometimes difficult to measure.
