Lhamon Quilt Square Society
Lhamon Quilt Square Society, named after our founder Dedee Lhamon, is The Covering House’s $1,000+ annual giving program.
The Story of the Quilt Square
During the Underground Railroad, it is said that slaves fleeing for their freedom would know which homes were a safe refuge by the types of quilts hanging on their porches. This is why The Covering House logo is a quilt square and each youth receives her own quilt, which is both symbolic and provides comfort and security.
Lhamon Quilt Square Society
Because of your support through the Lhamon Quilt Square Society, youth survivors of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation are given a safe refuge at The Covering House. In addition to providing a safe home and hot meals, you are providing a team of caring and professional staff, trained in trauma-informed care, who support youth through every step of their healing. Youth receive multiple forms of therapy to heal from their trauma, in-house education to get back on track in school, and practical life skills to live fulfilling and healthy lives. We cannot thank you enough.
